The Solidification of the Boston Celtics

Posted on: March 19, 2008 1:27 am

Let me start by saying I've been a fan of the NBA since I could remember.  Being 25, my most prominent moments in the game belong mostly to Michael Jordan.  I admit, while my Celtics were on the downward slide, I rooted for the Bulls.  But, honestly, who didn't?  And, until this season, there hasn't been much ado in the NBA besides the Lakers, Shaq, Kobe, and LeBron.  Oh and I forgot about the lackluster Spurs Sorry Timmy and San Antonio, but we all have.  I  have watched a superstar in Paul Pierce compete fiercely in futility year after year in Boston... Until this year.  Dan the man has finally put all the pieces in place to bring another ring to the NBA city who owns the most.  We traded half of our team to get KG.  Picked up the best shooter since Reggie Miller in Ray Allen.  Then the rest was easy...  we were able to sway veteran shooters, rebounders, and champions, who in turn were able to get the young guns on our team to buy into the philosophy that we needed to win:  Play unselfish basketball, do all the little things right, and play with a passion and intensity that your opponent cannot even try to match.  The result:  the best record in the Eastern Conference and complete dominance over the Western Conference in head to head play.  We just beat the defending champs for the second time with an all-star on the bench, and to top that, we went and put an exclamatic stop to the second biggest winning streak in NBA history on the road in Houston.  I know we still have games to play and points to prove, but I can honestly say without a doubt in my mind, that the Boston Celtics are the best team in the league and it would take nothing short of a miracle to knock them out of their run for the trophy.  Try you must though; LA, Houston, Utah, Detroit, Orlando, San Antonio, Phoenix, New Orleans, Dallas, Golden State, and all the other teams that think they belong in a series with the Celts, but your attempts at greatness will be futile against the Mean Green.  We will not stop until we have our Tea Party.  We are not undefeated and we are not the Patriots.  But when push comes to shove: WE WILL NOT LOSE!
